Tuff coat on a new pontoon deck

I am new to this, my 15 year old son and I are remodeling a pontoon. So my question is , will tuff coat fill the seams of the marine boards OR do I need to fill with plastic wood filler first?
2nd ?
If I use plastic wood filler will the tuff coat stick to it?

curious if you ended up using tuff coat on your pontoon. I really want to use it on our floors but am nervous since I don’t see it on many other pontoons. Thanks
