Putting the rope on a tower is fine but make sure your rope is as long as a standard ski rope :D

Do you have an i/o or a jet drive? When I have been tubing the only boat that has put enough water up in my face to annoy me is a twin engine jet drive.

Ive been reading that it can put alot of stress on the tower and potentially break the tower.. I have a 60ft rope but i cant find a 75ft..

I use a bungee rope it stretchers and have no problems and is a lot more fun, you will though damage your tower if you do silly things

Re: Tubing question...

The answer I see to almost all of these spray in the face threads is to buy a booster ball, an inflatable float mid-way down the tow line that keeps the line out of the water. I have not tried the Booster Ball and personally we have never had this issue of excessive spray from the rope with outboard boats pulling a tube off bridle and transom eyes. I don't know what your boat set up is.

If you do a search on the topic, you'll find at least a dozen threads that explain why pulling a tube from a tower is not recommended.

Re: Tubing question...

yeah im pretty sure im not going to do it... The risks definitely outweigh the pros... Do you think getting a smaller diameter rope will solve the problem??? Ill take a picture tomorrow just so you can see it... I really don't think i should be having issues it seems to be above the water pretty well..

Re: Tubing question...

Also , DO NOT pull the tube off of any tower. If the tube digs in, it could end up with broken tower parts and/or stress cracks in the fiberglass. Tow the tube from the transom eyes or a ski-tow ring. I've also never had much issue with rope spray when using a bridle on the transom eyes. That is coming from towing behind a bass boat which had the eyes almost at water-level when on plane. Sometimes the rope would hang in a turn if the boat slowed, but it didn't really cause any spray problems. The booster ball is the solution if you can't get the transom eyes to work with a bridle.

Like W.O.T. when you take off and doing turns at 50 mph

Pulling riders at 50mph is dangerous regardless of what the tow point is. 25mph is fast enough for most anyone, possibly 30mph in short bursts. It still results in 50mph speeds on the tube when slingshotted out to the sides.
