I am trying to find the model / age to locate a service manual for a small outboard motor i have.

The plastic cover is white, whith a large blue rectangle on each side with Evinrude written in white and 2.5 in red.

I cannot find the model number anywhere, however the only place i can find any numbers is under the plastic cover stamped into the metal parts of the engine. They are as follows

B01414801
396356
332007-4

Also near a couple of the numbers there is an 'M' stamped.

Is there anyone who can help identifying the age/ model of this engine.

Thanks,

Bill

Since you didn't post a picture of your motor, I assume you don't have a digital camera ... look at this picture of a 1987 motor and see if it resembles yours:

Thanks,

Bill

"Normal" place to look is the plate/sticker on the transom bracket ... like this:

And if that's missing, look for the plug like tashasdaddy said ... looks something like this:

Re: Trying to Identify outboard

It has to be 1987 or 1988, so if it does not look like bankerjohn's, it's 1988.

1987 Model was 3RCU
1988 Model was 3RCC
