Im looking at this old 84' SeaRay 260 that is up for sale in my area and am trying to figure out the weight of it.

I found some specs but i dont really understand them. Like some say 'dry' but does that mean JUST the boat itself or does it include the weight of the motor? Also what is the weight (approximately) of the trailer of a boat this size.

If someone could help me out id appreciate it.

Doesn't include the motor(s) or a full fuel tank or anything. Post a link to the ad?

What is your tow vehicle and rating?

If the boat is an inboard or an I/O then it DOES include one engine generally with twins the second one is not included..... If it is an outboard then no it does not include engine(s)

It also does not include fuel, water, gear, or more than one battery.

figure somewhere around 1200lbs for the trailer

Example my 28' wellcraft with trailer is somewhere around 11,000 with full tanks.

Smoke is absolutely right. I just looked at NADA guides and the dry weight for a 260 sundancer (weekender???) was about 5700 LBS INCLUDING The stock 200 HP engine.

A good number to figure on that boat will be 9000-9500 lbs on the trailer during normal towing. A 1/2 "will" do it, a newer half ton should without much issues, and any 3/4+ ton shouldn't have any worries.

That boat is 5,150lbs without gas, water, or gear

Thanks for the info guys...looks ilke its a little heavy for us to tow 'comfortably'...we have a 96' Chevy Express 1500...manual says 5000 is max tow but we've been towing our 24' VIP which is about 5400 w/trailer...probably closer to 6000 when loaded up with no issue...but to add an extra ton could be putting it to the test more so than what would be smart.

Kinda looking for a boat to fix up over the winter and re-sell during boat season for a profit. Living in Az, even the 'winter' is plenty warm enough to do work on something...just trying to find a smart investment

Bad, Bad, Bad. Don't exceed your vehicles tow rating, it puts us all in danger. While some of us, myself included, have done it in extenuating circumstances, it is NOT a good idea. It puts a lot of stress on your truck. Get a Tundra. ;)

lol yeah gotta get something new soon. I want a van for MYSELF, just that the 2500 Express Vans are gas drinkers...and with a mobile business that'll just mean money flying out the window *sigh*...not like i can afford it right now anyway
