Truman Lake Question for KC Area Boaters

Hey All,

I'm from Harrisonville, MO (about 30 mi. South of KC on 71-Highway). We plan to spend a lot of time at a friend's cabin on Pomme De Terre this summer, but I'd like to find a spot on Truman where I can put in for a day trip.

In the past, when boating on Truman, I've torn up props galore. I have a few acquaintances who swear that it's a great lake for tubing and skiing if you know where you're going. Great! But they never can tell me where to go.

Does anyone know of a big open area on Truman that's free of stump monsters where I could feel safe and comfortable pulling my kids?

If so, where is the access?

Thanks,

If you're going to be down here on Pomme, take Hwy 83 north off Hwy 54 to Rt K, left to Fairfield Landing. Put in and go right to the main lake point then left and you'll be in the KK Island area, biggest part of Truman. If you look north after you get on the main lake, around KK Island, you'll see the Warsaw Mile Long Bridge.

Hey Alwims,

Thanks for the reply. Looks interesting. I was really hoping to find something a little closer to Clinton, but I may check that area out this summer.

Thanks,

I drop in at Long Shoal. From there, head north, out of the cove. If you head south, you will go under the highway 7 bridge. After you head north, take a right and head towards the Dam. You will have plenty of deep water.

I used to fish a lot around the Clinton area, but never played there much as the water was much cleaner anywhere else in the lake. You could go south on 13 to Z hwy, left about 10 miles to Berry Bend. That's a nice area to play and if you go east from Berry Bend, on the water, you will come to the same area I was telling you about it my other post.

OK. Thanks. I'll check that out too.

Have you ever been in the area just South of Sparrowfoot? It looks really big on the map.

Yep, shallow spots, trees and very dirty water. No way I would jump into that water let alone let my kids swim there. Went swimming at Sparrowfoot one time, wife and I both had a rash for a week afterwards. I've never been there that you could see past 6" to a Foot in that water.
