I've been trying to figure out a good inexpensive way to mount a rodrack onto my truck. I did once see a guy that had a pvc six rod rack mounted to the license plate that was constructed so that the plate was still visible. Does anyone know if these are sold commercially? I would go with a cooler rack but that's a bit impractacle as I never drive out on the beach for surf fishing. I just need a good way to transport them.

If you want a rack just to transport your rods to the beach I'd advise against that. All it takes is for a rock to get kicked up and nick a rod and your done.

I've a go a 10 rod cooler rack and the only time he rods are in the reck is when traveling the beach or to and from the house. When traveling the highway the rods go into a Barrecrafter ski board racks which hold 4 sets of rods each

The problem is that it's a pickup truck with only a 6' bed so any one piece rods will stick out the bed pretty far and there's no way to put a roof rack.

All of these though are still a bit expensive and I don't want to have to weld to the frame. I'm looking for something that I can just bolt on.

Re: Truck Rod Rack

Just yesterday I picked up a tool box for in the bed.
I think I'm going to mount rod holders to it. Cheap, easy, and keeps the rods away from rocks and other debris on the roads.
