I have a 1993 Mercruiser 3.0L with intermittent oil pressure gauge trouble. It started last year, either the gauge would work or go completly dead. I got my boat back from storage and started it up. The good news is she started on the first try, bad news is the pressure gauge reads 0 psi. I know there is pressure since I ran the engine to operating temp and it sounded great.

Anyone happen to know what voltages I should be reading at the sender and the gauge? I got a reading of 1.6Vdc and the sender at idle. At the gauge I read 12Vdc on one post and 6.?Vdc on the other. I am assuming the 12Vdc is the dash light. Being that I am getting voltage to both posts at the gauge and the gauge still reads 0 psi I am inclined to thing it is a bad gauge.

Thanks,

Jeff

Remove the wire from the sender. With the ignition switch in the run position ground the wire. If the gauge pegs out, replace the sender.
