Hey ya'll I got my carbs off today to rebuild, I got them disassembled and they're actually in pretty good shape no varnish, gum, dirt, etc. I'm assuming the rebuild kits come with the everything I need. Does it include the orifices in the sides of bowl AND in the sides of carb body?

A while back I posted a question concerning my V4 surging at WOT. After I got the carbs off I took a look over the motor since I had some good lighting outside. The two coils on the left side of motor (starboard?)have cracks in the black casing. The two on the other side looked okay. Is it safe to assume that they're probably breaking down and dropping cylinders, which would result in the surge at WOT?

The motor is 1977 Evinrude 85hp

Carbs kits only come with gaskets. Some have the needle and seat and others its extra. Yes those coils can be causing problems.

Take an insulated probe, and hook it to an engine ground. Probe the crack in the coil, and see if you get a ground to the probe.

or just touch the coils with my bare hands while standing in water right? just kidding :) thanks I'll see what I can do in the mean time I'll get back to cleaning the 28 years of brown stains off the silencer and carb bodies

Ayight R.Johnson, it reminds me tho of the first time I fired it up in the yard the a couple months ago. For some stupid reason I touched one of the boots while it was running and it reminded me why you don't do that......By the way where can I get my hands on a probe cause I don't have one in my immediate possession?
