Troubleshooting a minor problem?

Last night I went out and started my 115 Johnson to run it a few minutes since it has been a few weeks since it was started. Everything was good until I turned the key off, she kept running. I pulled the fuel line and let her idle out of fuel.

Tonight when it cools down and it becomes bearable outside I plan on finding the cause. I plan on checking all the connections on the key switch first. If that doesn't do it what are the next logical steps in troubleshooting this problem?

You may have corrosion built up in the switch itself.
And when you turned it off it stayed as if it was on.
Try contact cleaner and spray it directly into the switch and work the switch on and off several times.

Were you running it with muffs on in the driveway? Did you rev it in neutral while it was on the muffs?
