So recently I took apart the outdrive to do seal job on upper unit and to inspect the lower unit water pump. Had replaced the motor as well. So went to readjust the shifting linkage I'm following the instructions and it says to push in on shift linkage and turn the prop counter clockwise direction to lock on the lower. When I do this all it does is spin free like it's in neutral. Did I miss something when I put the lower back on the upper? (Shift selector copper finger is installed like it should when I replaced to upper onto the transom) also noticed the outdrive isnt sending water when I hooked it up to the muffs. Didnt think I missed the guide tube. Is it supposed to sit in the guide tube or does it actually go inside the water pump?

Thank for the help

Ayuh,..... Did you have Everything in forward gear, when you slid the lower up to the upper,..??
You have to hold tension on the prop shaft to keep the lower from poppin' into neutral,....

It appears I've figured out the water issue. The issue that I'm finding myself in now I cant get it to go in reverse on the remote control. It will engage forward but will not engage for reverse. Not sure where to go.

One of the mods here has a YouTube video that explains it well. If you do it EXACTLY the way he explains it, you'll sort it out
