I hav a 140 HP johnson outboard (1990 model) that was in a wreck last year. The boat was knocked off the trailer and slid down the road over 100 yards. The lower unit was demolishehed actually bending the housing. I have had it rebuit with a new housing but when I try to install it I haven't been able to get the shift rod all the way up to where it attaches to the linkage. I goes through the pivot tube fine but then it has to go through A grommet before it attaches to the linkage and I can't seem to make it line up. I can't see any other damage cause buy the wreck. The motor pivot fairly easily and the tilt and trim works fine. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?<br /><br />Thanks, Paul
