Trouble getting power w/ my GP 800R Waverunner Yamaha. It is a 2001 but it has only 26 original hrs. My problems started w/ the storing of my PWC over the winter months. I tried every way I new to refresh the gas. Sta-bil. Drained almost all the gas & put new 93 octane shell w/ a bottle of octane booster when the gas by itself didn't work. I thought I had it licked yesterday when I put two new spark plugs inthe 120 hp. engine & it took off like a jet for about 1/2 a mile then it started to crank & take off & as soon as it almost reaches full throttle it dies. It will crank up again & keep doing the same thing. Thanks either way for any & all help. Yawl are stand up people for taking time to help others. I hope yawl here that often! THANKS AGAIN, JJ

Sounds liek the carbs are gummed up . You need to take the carbs off and clean them. Or you could have a clogged fuel line. Pour a little pre mix gas in the carb throats. if it starts and runs youre basically not getting fuel. Could be something as simple as a pulse line that is broken or cracked or fell off.

Update W/ my 2001 GP 800A-Z Waverunner. Thxs Rob & Justin. I know that yawl know yawls stuff w/ the PWC's & I am sure that yawl are steering me in the right direction so I just wanted 2 let yawl know what it did yesterday. I had already bought a fuel filter cause I thought that that might be rt. on & regardless the ski is 7 years old/young whether R not it has only 27ish hrs. on it. I know that to be a fact so I hav been neglecting it way to much expecting it to run like a brand new w,runner. Anyways I couldn't get it to crank like it should (w/ my hand off the throttle). I had to touch the throttle a mm. Ok a cm then! Im sry bought the novel I am wanting to write here. It cranked & ran like reg. for a football field. Once again I lost all power & it died w/0 a easy restart. It was like the starter had to reset or somein. Tap on it & gave up for 55 secs (approx.) tried again w/ same results. The 100 yd. dash show. So this morning I am going to replace the fuel filter & (rebuild the carb.??) I will hav to look up some instructions on that as I am not even a shade tree mechanic. I always come out Ok though. Hopefully , this will result w/the same outcome. THANKS Again ffellas!! Hav a gd 1!!!! SCRUM (JJ)

Rebuilding the carbs is pretty easy. jsut put everything back the way it was if you need any help someone on here should be able to help you out
