Don't knock your self out trying to speed up iboats. Its a very slow site compared to other websites regardless of where I sign on or who's pc I'm using, PC or Mac.

it has always been a tad slow for me. I find this with most of the larger forums. I always assume its due to so many being on the forum at once and all the bandwidth being used.

Lots of people off this week and logged on to Iboats? Has been slower then usual for me, but I still sit here and wait for the page....

The slowness is not due to the number of users, it's the ads. In many cases they're actually links to ad providers - doubleclick, adclick, etc. These spamers, err... advertisers, provide their spam, err....advertising, services to a variety of websites. Any website is only as fast as the ad can render. The flash ads add an additional burden as well. You think iboats is bad, you haven't been to ebay lately on a relatively slow computer. Also, sports websites are becoming notoriously slow.

The users are actually connectionless, i.e there's no overhead except for the second you click, or the website is providing you a page (or spam). For all practical purposes, as long as these functions are not occuring, there's no website overhead.
