Can yall enlighten me on some secrets on How, When, What, Where, to run trot lines. I'm in need to stock the freezer with fish (lousy bass fisher & catcher).

A milk jug some string and a hook is all ya need for Mr. Whiskers..Oh and lets not forget the smelly-est bait ya got..Preferably the stankiest thing you can bear to handle..
Tie to tree and talk around the fire for an hour or so..If ya see your jug amoving wait for a while..then get it..

Use good heavy snap swivels on the downlines.
If you don't, a 10 pound fish will destroy a trot line.

Also use some weight in middle of trotline to keep it down.

If you use a 100 hook trotline, run it ever hour.
That way you get the fish off of it and take less chance of tearing your trotline up.

Depends on where you are doing this, stink bait, cut bait, and live bait all works good.

If you are going to jug fish, then tie on at different depths and with different baits till you see what they are wanting the best.

It's fun, but not near as fun as noddling. :D

Although it is common sense, I'll add to position your trot line in an area with no boat traffic......That is unless you plan on making sushi and definately NOT making a new friend as the boater is cussing you all day long while he pulls your trot line out of his prop shaft and seals a few inches at a time.
