First off what year boat is this? Secondly, never exceed your plate - it's pure suicide to do so. Your boats condition also has a lot to do with it. Check with the different engine manufacturer's on the weight of their engines - there will be a lot of difference between a 2 or 4 stroke of the same horsepower. As far as the best replacement is concerned - how deep are your pockets? Remember that the engine is just a part of the overall package - controls, etc. are usually extra and can add hundreds of dollars onto the total cost. Then there is the installation fees, change of certain gauges will also cost ya'. It is not a one shot deal by any stretch of the imagination.

You can go to the max on your data plate.

What kind of performance are you getting now? Speed & RPM at WOT?
