I have read somewhere on here, and I can't seem to find it, about something you need to do to your honda 4 cycle 10 hp, before you troll with it.

Does anybody know what I am talking about?

I was reading that your oil could get gas or water in it, thereby seeming to "make oil".

Does anybody know what you could do along with opening it up now and then?

I have the honda 100 model. I think this one is a late 70's early 80's.

Re: Trolling, what do I need to do to motor?

I had a 2000 8 hp honda kicker. When I got 20 hrs on it trolling it would look like it just burnt up.After checking oil level I would find it was filled up with gas.As i under stood, it was only a few year models this would happen to,but only small hondas,6 that I know of. Nothing they or I could ever do would fix the problem,{thermostat etc.}Finally they bought it back.I also have a 90 hp honda, can troll for 30 hrs around the pier heads never trottling up and it never adds a drop of fuel in there.I heard its only 45 or 50 hp on down.My opinion is,if the motor has this problem theres nothing you can do about this.It will add gas every minute its idling.I know 1 man that had two bought back.

How did you get them to buy it back? They told me that they are not responsible. I spoke with the regional rep on two occasions and even wrote a letter to the company, after which they referred me back to the regional help. I have a 99 8hp.
