Since it's kinda slow here today I thought I'd ask a few questions to our crappie experts.

I've been reading up on trolling for crappie but I still had a few questions before I went & did any buying.

1st. Rod Holders. I know about the Titelok system & it's cheaper counterpart from Driftmaster but I have no place up front of the boat to mount it. The trolling motor is on the bow, right in the middle, but the controls loop around the front leaving no room up there. What other mount options would I have? I though about just buying the rod holders individually & mounting on the side, using different length rods to control spacing. I also thought I could put 4 along the back, and mount my spare transom mount trolling motor. Any other ideas?
Here is the best picture of the inside of the boat I have : http://www.titansfan098.com/uploader/boat006.jpg
Notice the rear of the boat. That strip that runs across the rear would be a great mounting place for the rod holders.
Whadda ya think?
While I'm asking....should I get the angled or horizontal type of holder?

2nd: How do you do it?
I've read about someone using diving baits, 20 yards of line out with different diving depth lures. This sounds the easiest method, but how fast do you need to be going to keep the lures down?
I also know about the jig technique, but had questions about that too. Again, how fast should you be going...or is it stop & go?
Can you use a bobber to control depth or is it better just to guess?

Other than that I'm not sure what to ask about... so I am looking for any tips anyone can offer.
Thanks for reading :)

Edit: Fixed link.

The link works for me. Sorry i cant help with the rod holders. I hold mine. We can only fish one line here in Minnesota. I can take you to a lake in minnesota where you can troll with a boat anchor and catch crappies. Sure they are small but crappies. Try trolling with a small yellow and black beetle spin about 1 mph in about 5 ft of water. Just one idea. Here is the one that works the best for me. yellow and black small beetle spin

Here's what I use.
I bought a couple extra mounting bases and move the holers where to where I am sitting, gives me some versaltility for trolling, drifting, etc. They swivel left and right, and up/down.

I think mounting them along the inside edge of your port and starboard sides would work well.

Yes, "trolling" for crappies is done very slowly, more often than not, we drift.

http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...t_category=fishing>rod hold&*******=770460419

http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...t_category=fishing>rod hold&*******=770460419
