Greetings to all:

My 60hp doesn't let me back troll as slow as I like to. I've been looking at buying one of those flip-down trolling plates. Does anyone have any experience with them? Maybe they wont work for back trolling just going forward?

Thanks... Kevin53

Re: Trolling Plate

Don't know about backtrolling. They would probably stop you completely. ??

Otherwise, they do work.
Some brands are kind of a pain to use.
If you get the type that has a sort of shear pin in it, get plenty of extra pins.

Another option is to get a drift sock. They work like dragging a bucket thru the water to slow you down. They can be tied to the bow, stern, or on a strap that goes under and across the boat near the bow. Effective, simple, cheap, works for forward and backtrolling, and for drifting.

http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...t sock&**********=759770325&*******=749281044
