I've got a 20ft cuddy with 3.0 140 4 blade.. went trout fishing 2 weeks ago in Seneca Lake-NY. at base speed was going to fast for trolling.. almost 5mph. Friend of mine suggested a trolling plate.. I bought an Easy Troller from Ironwood Pacific Outdoors ($110). Went back to Seneca two days ago, Im down to 1.9-2.2 mph... we caught (2) Salmon.. If anyone wants the perfect solution on how to use the main engine, this works perfect. The alternative would have been spending $500-$1000 on kickers or electric....which I did not want to use... This works...and is very well made.

Re: Trolling Plate

The other option is a Amish Outfitters trolling bag,.

Re: Trolling Plate

What your idle speed and what size prop are you running?

I had the same 3.0, 140 combo on a 19' ft cuddy. Had no problem trolling at 2.0-2.5 mph

Blade count doesn't mean anything. What size prop do you have? What RPM?

15x16. did not look at tac at idle speed... it's a good size prop,, pushes a lot of water... my issue is solved now... i thought about messing with idle.. bes tto leave it alone,, im happy with outcome
