I just put a new minn kota 50lb thrust trolling motor on my boat. I was using the motor yesterday and it just stopped working. I checked all wires and everything looks ok. I checked the fuses and they are ok. I know its not the motor because, i took the plug and hooked it up to my freinds boat and it works fine. The only way i can get it to work on mine is, if i run a direct wire from the foot control back to the battery, bypassing the plug in the front. Is it possible that the female end of the plug in the front of the boat is burned up??? Its a 12v system, 16 ft lowe bass boat

Re: trolling motor

welcome to the forum.

Only components in that whole system are the motor, the battery, the wires and the connectors.

You ruled out the motor and the motor connector when you ran it on the other boat.

"checked the fuses"...it would be unusual to have more than one fuse for a trolling motor - more likely there's a 40-amp (or 50-amp) circuit breaker somewhere near the battery. Could be auto-reset, but more likely manual reset (so the prop won't start spinning while you're unwrapping your fishing line ;) ).

You ruled out the battery and circuit breaker (if equipped) by running a direct line to the foot control.

You inspected the wires, so I guess that just leaves the recepticle in the bow of your boat.
