I currently fish in a 22 ft Hydra-sport walk-around with a 225 HP motor. The boat I purchased has a mount for a trolling motor.

I know I would need a 4 stroke to connect directly to the gas line already there for a trolling motor.

Does anybody have any suggestions on the size and length needed, i.e. 20" 15hp..

Also what about the speed controls. Should I look at another speed control hook-up or just use the handle.

Any suggestions. Thanks
in advance.

I always used the "10% rule".

The "kicker" should be at least 10% of the boats maximum allowable HP rating, not the current engine rating.

Make sure you kicker bracket can handle the weight of a larger engine.

An electric trolling motor is a different story. Always buy the biggest you can afford.

Hi,

Take a look at the Yamaha T9.9 High Thrust 4 stroke kicker.
