Trolling Motor Prop Won't Spin

Hey,

I've got a Bass Pro Prowler 45 lb foot controlled trolling motor. Everything turns on and when I press the throttle, the gauge shows it throttling up. It will also rotate left and right. Problem is, the prop will not spin. Any ideas what the issue could be? I've checked the shear pin and it's fine.

Thanks,
Steve

Does it spin by hand? If not, take the screw out and blade off and see if it is full of fishing line. I have had that happen before.

It does spin by hand. I've taken the prop off and it was free of any debris.

Well the easy answer was wrong, lol. How old is it? You can try to find the hot/main power wire on it and use jumper cables and a batt. to see if the motor works. If it does, then you know the prob. has to be in the control box. Best of luck.

I just bought the boat and the previous owner says the trolling motor is about 2 years old. I will try the wires as soon as I can and see what happens.
Thanks for your help.

Well after some trial and error with wires and whatnot, I'm thinking the lower motor unit that powers the prop is burnt out. Can this be replaced on my model or would it be better to just go for a new trolling motor all together?
