Trolling motor pedal

I'm brand new to the bass boating scene, and I can't get the pedal on my Minnkota 765mx to work.<br /><br />It could be broken, and it could be user error.<br /><br />First off, should the pedal change directions of the motor out of the water? I've done most testing of it in my yard.<br /><br />Second, what all should I do to check it out?<br /><br />Third, any idea of where I could get a new pedal? I've seen at trollingmotorparts.com that it's been discontinued. Anyone have an idea where I should look?<br /><br />Thanks for any help you give me. Like I said, I'm brand new and will likely be back with other dumb questions.<br /><br />Thanks again.
