86 ranger 373v 18' bass boat.

I had a motor guide 12/24v motor, but it didn't have much hold against wind, so I traded it for a pinpoint 3700 with 7500 control unit. ended up breaking part of the case on the control part of the actual motor before I had chance to use. Had to pull it apart and epoxy it back together. I think I messed something up inside and now can't get the foot control to turn the shaft. I'll pull apart once more, but also question if wired correctly, didn't seem to have much power either and it's 60 or 70lbs thrust I thought.

Wired to 2 new 27 series batteries. I have 4 wires at plug and there's 2 white, 2 orange out of wire from control. I read on here, I believe, each white goes to a battery ground and each orange goes to positives. Am I only getting 12v or am I wrong?

If i can't fix this, I need suggestions on a nice, bow mount trolling motor for this boat. Fresh water unit. Enough thrust to fight light winds. I like the idea of setting it to keep me off the bank in so many feet of water and having a sonar with the motor vs individual units. Not looking to break the bank either.

Okay I have to ask. You didn't "epoxy" the motor shaft to the head unit did you? Pop up a picture or three so we see what you are dealing with.

I'll try to get a pic up later today, but no. I think a great inside didn't get back in the correct location or siren stripped out.

Here's a picture of where I epoxied it back together.
