Trolling motor connector location?

I have installed a Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 on my pontoon. It has a slide mount so I can remove it for winter storage. Consequently, I need to install an electrical connector at the bow of the pontoon. However, it seems that all of the various trolling motor plugs out there have receptacles designed to be mounted on a vertical surface. I guess I could mount the receptacle in the floor but I imagine that rainwater collecting in the receptacle is not the best approach and I can envision the plug sticking straight up from the deck being kicked and broken regularly by an over enthusiastic fisherman sitting in the bow seat. I've seen that at least one pontoon manufacturer uses a neat angled housing but cannot find that or similar thing sold as an accessory.

Anyway, what have you folks done for the trolling motor plug on your pontoon boat? Ideas and photos welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Mine is in the compartment under the seat. I just open the compartment pull it out and plug the trolling motor into it

Thanks for the replies. Yesterday I was at Hallberg Marine in Wyoming, MN picking up some supplies and I happened to mention my 'problem" and how I could not find a source for the angled receptacle housing I'd seen in a pontoon picture somewhere on the 'net. Well, he said, "We have those in our pontoon shop." SO, 60 seconds and $20 later I had exactly what I wanted. For pontoon owners wanting a slick way to do the trolling motor plug connection, here is a photo of the housing as I am using it. Perhaps most any pontoon dealer could get these or you could contact Hallberg (Hallberg Marine - Boaters Paradise | Marine Sales, Service, Parts and Sports | Wyoming, MN).

So out of curiosity, where is your trolling motor battery mounted?

I have the two group 27s inside the helm (that has an open end so there's plenty of ventilation). It's about a 72" 8 ga. wiring run to the plug. An onboard charger is mounted between the helm and railing.

Whew! Wife just returned from trying the new trolling motor out (her pontoon) and has given it two thumbs up and scratched this project from my honey-do list thus freeing me to go back to working on my Studebaker. :D

Off the topic, but I'd added the iPilot wireless remote to the motor and it's the bee's knees.
