Howdy, IB.

MotorGuide and MinnKota probably have 90% of the market between them. Both make excellent motors with each offering a few models that are unique to their brand.

Decide what features you want and either or both offer a good motor to fit.

Good luck.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

IVANA BOATNOW, I asked similiar advice here one day, (as I didn't have a clue) and one of the suggestions was that if I could cut loose with the extra $$$$ to buy one with "auto pilot", I did, and I love it! I'm glad it was suggested, because I would not have done it.

Re: Trolling Motor Brands

just bought a 67lb thurst 24 volt motorguide bow mount trolling motor with foot pedal, and I love it. It is very powerful, and also very quiet. I had a motorguide about 7 years ago and it was quite noisy, I was leery to go with them again, but I did, and am glad. This baby is sweet.

Re: Trolling Motor Brands

I just put a Minn Kota 40ATH, bow mounted, hand controlled, trolling motor on my boat for $210 from Bass Pro Shops. The first time out I could not hear it running even on high speed. The only way I knew it was pulling me through the water. I was impressed.

I replaced a Motorguide that was very loud and hard to control with the foot control. It worked ok it was just too loud and I wanted a hand controlled one. The Minn Kota was a little cheaper.

I guess it depends on how you will be using it and how much money you want to spend. :D
