We've only had our boat out two times and the person who was helping us said to just leave the trim all the way down all the time. I know from reading here that isn't right. I guess I need a lesson on trimming. Please? I mean not a full lesson as I know what it is, I'm just not sure how to use it.

I am new myself but with the trim all the way down, your boat will be at its most effective angle to get onto plane. from there I adjust the trim when I am cruising to bring the bow up and get the most efficient part of the hull in the water and the rest out. For tubing/skiing/knee-boarding I am usually whipping it around and stopping allot so I never mess with the trim because I would constantly be adjusting it back down to start out again. Even when I am just pulling a tube I make allot of turns so the boat slows down and I have to get it back up on plane. I think not messing with the trim is good advice.

What he said^. I leave the trim all the way down when tubing and skiing under 25mph. I have to trim up alittle to get over 25mph with the 60hp motor we are using, but when I run the 100hp on the boat I leave it down all the time.

Our chappy ski boat makes a bigger wake a tube speed with the trim all the way down.Thats what the kids want, bigger wake.

Our boat requires a completly different trim adjustment from pulling something to just cruising...

I trim down when starting off, then trim up till the boat is at it's most efficient angle when up to towing speed. My fuel flow pulling a tube at 25 MPH will go from 15 GPH at full down trim to 8 GPH when trimmed up.

Did the same thing with my 120 HP outboard, didn't have a flow meter on it but you could tell it was pulling easier as the boat would speed up as you trimmed up and you would have to pull the throttle back to keep it at 25 MPH.

I trimmed our Searay up just a little when pulling a tube too. Trimmed all the way in to get on plane, then I'd just bump it up a little to get the nose out of the water. It created so much drag trimmed all the way in that you could hear the motor bogging a little. I trimmed it up just to lighten the load on the motor.
