I have a '95 Fourwinns 190 Horizon with an OMC (Ford) 5.0 engine, and cobra sterndrive. When I'm putting the sterndrive up it sqeals pretty loudly, but this only happens when the boat is int the water. I want to check, and add fluid if needed. How do I check the fluid, fill it, and what can I use to fill the tilt/trim with?
Thanks in advance,
Brad

Re: Trim ??

I had the same exact problem, I took the outdrive off for the winter and the trim rams moved, pulling air into the system. You may need to just cycle the pump a few times to bleed it. If your '95 is like my '93, the trim pump is mounted on the transom, a couple inches off center towards the port side. Heres how to check/add trim fluid: Put the drive in the full up/trailering position and get a large flat screwdriver and take out the large red plug on the trim pump. Take the plug out slowly in case there is some pressure inside. If the fluid level isnt reaching the bottom of the red plug's hole, fill with trim fluid or Dextron II Automatic Transmission Fluid or equivalent. Its possible none of this applies to you because Volvo Penta and OMC teamed up in i believe '94. Good luck.
