I have a 2001 mercuiser with what I think is a commander remote. The up down switch on the handle has markings for a tilt trim and trailer. There's green, red, blue and purple wires coming out of the remote. A po remove the trim limit switch, leaving the two connectors down by the hydraulics disconnected. I installed a new trim limit switch. I have confirmed that the blue wire comes to one of the connectors that turn limit switch plugs into and then is connected directly to the up solenoid and the purple wire goes to the trim limit switch and back up to that connector.
The trim limit switch is not working. I'm wondering if maybe the blue wire is getting heat directly from the battery when the engine is off but the purple wire gets only when the engine is on. I can't seem to figure out why the trim limit switch isn't working. Any suggestions?

The trim limit goes out ever so often and many folks just bypass it. There is a much easier way to bypass without cutting wires but that is another discussion

The purple/white goes to the trim limitTrim Limit switch wiring.png
