New controller Merc Commander 4000. 3 wires coming off controller. red green blue. 4 wires coming off boat red green blue brown. I "think" the switch is a dual action up switch (trailer/trim)
Do I splice the brown and blue (up) wires coming off the boat to the blue wire on controller OR do I eliminate the trim trim up and only use the trailer up wire for everything and somehow the switch limits the function until trailer function is needed
I understand red power, blue up, green down, but I'm unsure of the brown wire which goes to the old switch. I can only "assume" it's the trailer up wire....any help? Thanks

I messed up. On Merc website they offer 2 switches for the same controller. Outboard and Mercruiser. I bought a new 3 wire outboard by mistake. Which I'm fine with, I'm thinking the only difference is the dual switch trim/trailer function. So I'll just hook up the trailer wire and use it for all up trim which I'm fine with. The old switch was broken and I've been doing it that way years
