Hey Guys,

I went to test the trim on my new boat and found that the wires had been cut 3 feet from the controls. The engine is a 1976 Johnson 200hp V6 Seahorse and the boat is a 1978 Chaparral Bowrider. Where do i run these wires to once they leave the throttle control box? I believe there is a black, white and green. I have about 20' of a group of wires running from my little relay box near the battery with the screw down top that has a red, black, white, green and blue wire in it, is this bunch for the dash gauges and tilt trim?Ty all for ur help, i appreciate it!

Re: Trim/Tilt Wiring.....

Ok I traced the wires coming from the trim motor and they definately go to that plastic box. Now the colours of wires coming out of the box towards the front of the boat and the colours of the wires coming out of the trim controls on the throttle match up, but the size (gauge) is larger on the ones coming out of the dual relay setup, will this matter at all? There will also be 2 wires left over out of the group of wires coming from the relay, a red and blue, where will these go? Ty all.

Usually from the trim switch in the control handle there is 3 wires for the trim.
red is + feed to the switch, blue is trim down, green is trim up.These go to the trim solenoid inside the box. Then the heavy wires from the solenoid go to the trim pump..

If I recall correctly I think Green is trim down (green grass) and blue is up (sky blue) ABYC may not like how i remember that but that is how i was taught
