Trim/tilt fluid low?

Hi, my buddies 2001 yammaha 4 stroke makes a lot of noise when tilting the motor. It sounds as though there is air in the fluid? Could someone explain the procedure for topping off/purging air or is this some other issue? Thanks.

The classic sound of air between oil, no problem, no purging, just make a good oil ,In some cases the problem has remained
