trim tabs

has anyone made there own trim tabs? if so how. I would like to make a set the simpler the better some way to manual adjust the tabs no elect. are hyd any help please don

Flat bits of plastic, metal, or wood hinged with an aluminum or brass piano hinge adjusted with a turnbuckle connecting the tab to the transom a few inches above the hinge. Simple, cheap, and what you don't have laying around you can get at the hardware store. For better, you're better off buying some.

In the process of doing the same thing. Do a search for POOR MANS TRIM TABS under boat topics and discusions. Some good feedback from other members there.<br />What boat/motor do you have ?

It's going to be difficult to adjust them while underway. <br /><br />Being rather mechanically inclined, I'm sure I could design and construct something like this but I wouldn't, I would buy a set so I could enjoy my boat. If you have a smaller boat, check out Nauticus "Smart Tabs". Well under $200.00 and you have something worth putting on your boat.
