Trim Tabs switch control, right or left?

I just noticed that my friends Scarab has the trim tab switches set up where the right switch controls the stbd trim tab and the left switch the port trim tab.
Both are Bennet's Hyd.
On mine (and has always been) Right sw. controls port side and vice versa.
I know it's just a matter of what you get used to, but which is the correct set-up? How do new installation come? Does it really matter?

Yours is correct. You are supposed to imagine what happens with the bow, not the tabs. When you push the Starboard switch forward, you are pushing the starboard bow down as it actuates the port tab down . . .

I agree right switch controls port tab and left controls the the starboard tab. Set up the other way my brain would fry trying to figure which switch to push to control the boat.

Thanks, glad mine are correct. I won the bet and a steak dinner.
I passed the info on and he's going to change his switch wiring.
I'll have to re-train him now.
