Trim Tabs .. 14' jet drive

Has anyone tried the "automatic" trim tabs on a 14 foot jet drive boat ? Seems like a good idea to get the boat to plane and improve preformance . I am looking at the auto tab system that works with 2 gas struts and has no adjustment other than the pressure of the gas strut .

I've been researching the "smart tabs SE" for my 1995 sea ray sea rayder. seems like a very logical concept, and after talking with some local guys with similar style boats, they said under "weighted runs" in their boats, they saw a considerable difference

To be honest I had given up on this post but having done the research on them my boat will have them by next season for sure !

Same here, I am rebuilding my boat, and I have decided to pick up a set as well.

I've run them on a 14 foot jet boat, sj 95 powered... (sugar sand heat) They made a HUGE difference. I can't really even explain how much they changed the boat! Without them, getting on plane was sluggish, and with 4 people in the boat, there wasn't even a chance of getting on plane.

After adding them, it pops up nearly instantly onto plane, and stays on plane at a much slower speed. The only drawback is that it makes it substantially more stable. It will not spin easily, if at all. I rigged up a wire hook system on mine so if I wanted to go play I could hook them up in a full 'up' position, out of the water. Unlike prop boats that gain a little speed from them, I maybe lost a very slight bit of speed, 1 to 2 mph max, but it was easily worth giving up that.

(btw, i got the ST980-40 model, seemed like a fairly good fit.)

Thanks Smokin , Just what I needed to hear to feel better about putting them on . I was going with the same ones you have on your boat
