I had a problem with my steering. When I would turn one way it was easy , but when I turn the other it was difficult. Well last time out I happen to have broke the trim tab on the motor. After this happen the motor was easy to steer both directions but pulled to the right. Seems like if I fix one problem ( the pulling) by replacing the trim tab , I still have the steering issue. Does the trim tab really play that big of a roll in steering or is it just my boat?

Re: trim tab

Really depends on the individual boat and motor combo. Sounds like the original trim tab was not adjusted properly. Set the trim tab to the neutral position (straight) to begin with. Run the boat and see how it behaves. If steering in one direction is harder than the other, turn the trailing edge of the trim tab in the harder direction maybe 1/4". Try it again and adjust as required. Keep going until the steering effort is equal in both directions.
