Trim tab tubing options?

My trim tab lines are leaking at the fittings and I am trying to figure out the most cost effective way of fixing them. I looked up the Bennett’s lines but am not trying to drop the $40 on them as I am saving up to get an edge rock carb. Will any other kind of tubing work for the trim tabs? I bought some 1/4 inch plastic vacuume lines from oriellys but the compression fittings don’t seem to fit on. Is there a special tool to crimp fittings? I’m lost. Thanks in advance

getting the correct bennett lines is the same price as buying stuff that wont work.

you literally are complaining about $40 and the difference by the time you are done will be less than $5 once you get the tubing, nuts and ferrules

however because you bought a bunch of stuff that wont work....... your repair will actually cost you more now as you go back and buy the right stuff.

no way a vacuum line from oreilys is going to hold the hydraulic pressure generated by the bennett pump

remember, that little pump can generate some serious pressure

I went through this a few years ago.
I wasn't trying to save money but I needed hose asap and the Bennett hose was going to take awhile to get.
I used Parker NBR-4-050 hose. It has a burst pressure of 2500 psi.
My notes show I might have been able to use NBR-4-035 with a burst pressure of 1700 psi but I'm not sure about that.
I went for the higher rating and wasn't concerned that the tabs might move slower.
