Trim tab question!

Now that I've got my motor running well, I need to address my steering problem. When I'm running at higher speeds the steering wheel pulls to the right. I adjusted the trim tab just above the prop by moving it all the way to the right as you're looking at the rear of the motor. It still pulls to the right. I didn't have the chance to try it to the left while I was on the water, but will next time. Are you supposed to adjust the tab in the direction of the pulling on the steering wheel? Thanks!

Changing tilt angle of the motor can also change how it pulls the steering under power, raising the motor a bit may help.
Good luck!

Unless you have another problem, all the way to the right is too much. Usually only a small twist to the right will offset the prop torque. You may have to play with the trim and trim fin settings some to find the sweet spot.

Should be to the right when you are standing behind the boat and looking forward.!!-----Or offset to starboard.

I run my engines slightly elevated on the transom. When at full trim, I'm not even sure the trim tab is even dragging in the water. So mine just pulls hard always at higher speeds. Just pull down hard with the left hand.

Thanks guys. When I raise up the motor angle it takes longer to plane off, so I've been leaving the angle all the way down. When I'm opened up it does feel like the nose is plowing a bit. I'll probably be out on the water this week so I'll give your ideas a try. I'll let you know. Thanks again.

The trim tab has only limited effectiveness, especially if motor is running high. Consider changing no-feedback steering, or hydraulic steering. Either one locks the wheel where you last put it, so you don't have to constantly fight it.

Does your engine not have power trim? On the ones that do, you take off with the engine tucked "in" then push it back (out) when on plane for more speed and fuel economy.
