Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here is goes anyway. I am working on a Sea Ray Sundancer 250 see link in signature and it is looking like the Bennett trim pump http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/product/hydraulic-power-unit/ is NG possibly submersed in sea water during hurricane Sandy. So my question is, I have a spare Insta-Trim pump http://www.insta-trim.com/universal-motor-pump-converts-to-fit-other-brands.html/ that I bought for another project and was wondering if it will work with the Bennett tabs on the boat? Just read the link I posted and from what it says it will work. I know I will need to get some fitting to adapt the Bennett lines. Anybody have experience with this? As always any advice is greatly appreciated. Have a great Sunday.

Not saying if insta will work for Bennett but trim tabs are just simple hydraulic cylinders. There is nothing that special about them. So if the insta can produce the sufficient pressure, it should work

bennett pumps are not that expensive (about $220-$250 depending on which site you buy it from). most of the time a hydraulic shop can get them fixed for dirt cheap.

I am sure if I can fine the motor I could fix it myself, bennett sells every part except the motor. I am trying to remove to look for some markings. To be honest, If I could use a part I have that is $250 that I can spend on something else LOL. Going to call Boat Leveler today and ask them. The only issue is I do not have the plug for the Boat Leveler pump and both they and the only person I found on ebay think they have gold.:eek::eek:

The way the pump body is connected to the motor (pinned and epoxied) make it pretty much impossible to replace only the motor in the field. If you do try it will likely leak and or fail in short order. You can use a Boat Leveler pump, but as you mention you will nee to replace or but splice the plug (I can give you the color to color wire to wire our harness into the Boat Leveler pump if you need it).

You will also need hydraulic fittings to adapt the Boat Leveler hoses to Bennett tubing.

Have you looked for a used Bennett HPU?

Tabman thanks for the info, I am still looking and with the close of boating season here in NJ I have some time to figure out what to do. I am keeping eye out for a used pump. as I would like to keep things simple. BTW I was able to separate the motor from the pump and it is rusted solid. Can you provide me with the color to color wiring just in case? If I do get this project boat out for a sea trial in the next coming weeks it will most likely be with out working tabs.
