I noticed the other day that the trim tab (anode) was missing from the engine. It must have come off while I was under way. Is this something that needs to be fixed ASAP or can it wait until I take the engine in for maintenance next month?

If it's a trailer boat and Not kept in the water, it won't hurt anything. How ever, if you keep it in the water it would be best to install a new one. The bolt is probably still in there, so you should be able to install it from the dock.

Thanks Don. The boat is trailered and my main concern was water getting into somewhere it shouldn't while it was running. appreciate the response.

I take it that you are not fat like some of us and can't bend over that far:)

Water gets in that area even with the anode in place. The anode is not sealed. Just there to prevent corrosion of the drive.

Seems like I have read some motors need to have it in place to help with cooling of prop hub or something else, but have no idea which motors.
