hi, wish i had a pic for you all, but i don't. boat listed below. trim system leak at what i think is the reverse lock out valve. not sure abou that though. the piece is actuated by the shift mech. mounted to the transom. has hydrolic trim lines going to it and also has a micro switch mounted next to it. i need to find out what this part is. it is leaking out the center of it. i was doing some shift link adj. and think i've found my minor oil leak in my bilge. what is this part, and what can i do to recify the leak? what more can i tell ya all to help identify this too. thanks for any insight......

Re: trim system oil leak

I use this website to identify part numbers. Scroll down and find your engine or if need be go back to the homepage and they have listings for the stern drive portions. They have skematic diagrams of the engine parts and part numbers. Hope this helps.

Chris

Re: trim system oil leak

thanks cp611, i have done a bit of reasearch on this part on various web sites. i am pretty sure that it is the reverse lock valve. it seems to be a bit hard to research as it is niether and engine part nor a drive part. it does have hydrolic lines going to it and is connected to the shift assy. mounted to the transom plate. as far as i'm concerned it is a part of the trim system. but ain't 100% positive. i don't have the part out yet to see it exactly as i want to have a plan to repair prior to removing it. the trim sys does work proper now. just this leak, and that can't be good. i did find one site that had some parts brake downs for trim systems. not sure if i was looking at my system though. did have lots of nla parts though. :(

I had one leaking also. Went to Shorts and ordered the washers, seals, o'rings etc listed in the parts list. Took less than an hour to rebuild it (after it was removed from the boat. Doesn't leak any more. Be very careful where you pick a work area. There are a lot of small ball bearings that love to run every direction at once when you take it apart
