New shifter/trim swich installed on 87 3.0 Mercruiser last August. Maybe 20-25 hours on boat since.
here is the control used:
Trim switch will not activate trim in up direction, only down. Took retainer off trim switch to expose actual switch and if I really hold my mouth right, I can get it to trim/tilt up. Obviously I have a defective switch.
I talked to the guy that installed it, and of course, he threw away all the documentation and warranty info that came with the control, plus, his attitude is that it was not his labor that was the problem, and would re-charge me the labor to swap one out if i could get one under warranty.
Is Uflex a decent company, is it worth giving them any crap? I know there is probably nothing I can do since I do not have the warranty info, and I chose to use a "shade tree" mechanic.
Has anyone ever replaced the micro switch in the handle? Should I just cut my losses and install a dash trim switch? I have the know how to do that myself.
FRUSTRATED with everybody... Uflex, mechanic and myself!
