Hello all and Happy New Year,

I have a 1992 19.5" stingray with a 431A Volvo Penta 290DP.

I was recently doing some corrosion prevention and inadvertently caused some problem with my trim. I had forgotten to disconnect the batt when I went to pull of the relays (had to pry it off a little with a screwdriver) back by the trim motor and got quit a spark, of course I disconnected the batt before proceeding at that point, continued on looking for and scrubbing corrosion. Then I started the boat (trim already down) and everything seemed ok. Off to the river or so I thought when I can not get the trim to go up. The relays did not appear to be corroded and everything was working great prior to this, now I have no trim but the relays seem to be clicking, I swapped them around and even tried one at a time, with just one only one clicks in only one direction either up or down, and with both on they both click like relays should? So my question is (finally) could it still be the relays or if not what? I plan on checking for power going to the trim motor with a meter and I will shoot for resistance through the trim motor (not sure what that should read on the trim motor)? Does it sound like I shorted out the motor, if so how would I know, any other ideas?
