Trim shorting out

Hey I have 96 Four Winns 200 Horizin, bought in october first time boater, anyways the trim motor keeps shorting out and in order for me to use it i have to keep hitting the reset button. I've checked for fuses, looked in the book and still have no idea where to start to fix it. Its a volvo 5.0 fl i/o motor with a sx cobra sterndrive. If anyone has any hints on where for me to look thanks.

I had the same problem last year. There are several threads out there already, do a search. My problem was resolved with a new trim pump motor.

It could be either the motor itself or the circuit breaker/relay box itself.

Does the motor sound normal when it does run, or does it sound labored?

don assuming it sounds labored what would that mean and that its a ebay china special motor and valve body? which are clearly not going to run like a prestolite oem!!
having same problem myself but on 85hp force 1989
