Trim sender ground wire burnt

My 2000 Johnson 150 j150plssc trim sender's ground wire burnt into. After my motor trimmed all the way up on it's on. Help please.

Check your battery cable connections on both the battery and the mtr.

Replaced Wing nuts on battery with regular nuts , terminals good and tight on side of motor, still burns wire when I trim up on trim switch. Could a bad trim relay cause this? But why would the ground wire on the trim sender be hot when I hit the trim switch?

Check all ground leads from engine to trim/bracket. Most likely the trim unit motor takes its ground throgh the sender ground lead and not from a bracket ground to engine. #43:

I put a meter on the ground wire of the trim sender which is attached to a bolt on the trim motor and it's showing it's getting 5.2 volts
