Trim range upper limit?

I have a Sun Tracker pontoon boat with a 1999 Mercury 115hp ELPTO and power trim. I bought the boat used so have no dealer recourse. The problem is the motor cowling hits the back of the pontoon when its in the "trailering" position. The motor is mounted on the transom as it came from the factory but the trim allows it to come up maybe 1-1 1/2" too much. Is there a way to set the range so that the motor will stop before it hits the back of the boat?

Do you mean it hits something in front of it when tilted? If so, you could install a manual jackplate. They have different amounts of set back from 3" to 8" or so. It may even improve your performance also. They also make 2" spacer blocks to go between the transom and motor if that would give you enough clearance.

Good luck!

Yes, it hits the square tubing that the sheet metal siding is attached to at the back of the boat in front of the motor. (Tracker is a commodity type boat manufacturer but I love it anyways!!) Thanks for your advice. :)
