if this is in the wrong area, i appologize. I am currently working on getting a 75 viking deck boat back out on the water. I aquired it here last year and put a new deck on it this spring and now working on fixing the wiring that the mice had eaten. The Boat is a 75 Viking 18' deck boat with the 140hp in bord motor. The below picture is a part that is in my engine bay, hense the posting in engine. It has two wires coming out of it. One grounded on a silinoid and the other flopping in the breeze. The colore is purple with a white stripe. My question is one, what is the part, and two where is it supposed to be wired in at? I am new to this style of boat. Thank you in advance for all the help.

I am not able to post a picture for some reason, says i dont have permissions. So ill try to explain. it is about 12' long, has two oil, i believe, comming into it. The lines go down under the motor and into the drive. I think this is the pump swich for the trim, but the wires do not go into the plug that connects to the buttons that run my trim.

Welcome.
You need to have a certain number of posts before you can upload pictures.

Does it look like this?
If so, it's your trim level sender. I sends info the the trim gauge on your dash.
It's not critical..

That is exactly it! Glad i could explain it good enough. That big of a unit just for the gage, wow. Ok thank you. So then i am assuming the hot wire for that should go to the trim gauge then?

I'll have to look for a wiring diagram for that.
Those wires aren't hot. They have variable resistance for the gauge.

I can't find a diagram but as I recall the Black goes to ground and the Purple/white goes to the sender terminal on the trim gauge.

Most likely the trim limit switch on the drive which is in a place that you can't access will no longer be working.
This part is no longer available so you will have to use the trailer button as a trim or bypass the limit switch.
