have a 1976 mercruiser model 233, been repowered years ago and just getting around to trim pump replacement. The original was a prestolite pump, with 3/8x24 hydraulic hose fittings.
Got a new style pump which is a volvo pump I believe. The fittings on the pump are 7/16x20. The hoses coming up from the drive are 3/8x24 fittings.
What's the best solution?

- is there an adapter for fitting the hose at the pump?

- get new hoses from pump to transom, with 7/16 on pump side and 3/8 on the manifold side?

- get new pump? where's best place to get new pump where I don't have to use reverse lock-out mechanism on shift plate?

thanks.

Re: trim pump replacement help- merc/volvo 3/8 & 7/16 fittings

- is there an adapter for fitting the hose at the pump?
Don't know What the pump looks like,.....
Some,... The Hole in the pump body is a Pipe Thread,+ the fitting can be Changed,.....
Others,... The Hole is already an inverted flare fitting thread,+ Those Adpter Fittings are Rare to Nonexistent,.....
- get new hoses from pump to transom, with 7/16 on pump side and 3/8 on the manifold side?
Possible I suppose,........
- get new pump? where's best place to get new pump where I don't have to use reverse lock-out mechanism on shift plate?
What I did was swap to the new plastic tanked Mercruiser pump,..........
Ebay is a Great resource for used pumps.......
They're about $250./$300. New,........
I believe that NAPA is now listing them......
