Trim Pump on a Merc '73 not comming up

Hi, this is my first post, I've been looking into all the unswers before going to my post, I found some close answers but nothing definitive.<br /><br />Ok Here I go, <br />I have an old boat a Wbbcraft Project '73 from 1973, Alpha 1 Outdrive or MR a V8 188HP (Ford) the Pump is a Prestolite 2 hoses 3 cables and ONLY ONE SELENOID.<br /><br />All the manuals I have seen are 2 Selenoids, my pump doesn't have the place fo rthe second selenoid so that is why I'm leanning to the one selenoid could be right.<br /><br />The Outdrive goes down but it doesn't go up at all, de selenoid doesn't click or anything.<br /><br />I have a 3 buttom in Panel and 2 buttom in the handle. Cables looks fine we have tested them and they look fine same the buttoms, when U press them the tester shows that the circuit is close/open.<br /><br />I'm trying to get the boat to the water and see that everything else is fine, since I bought it with a lot of repairs to do.<br /><br />Any help guys?<br /><br />thank you so much.

Mine did the same thing last year. It's a 69 160 and has only one solenoid. Here's what I did. First I checked the continuity at the switch button. It was ok. Then I tracked the wires from the switch all the way to where they hook to the solenoid. They checked out ok too. You say yours seem to be ok too. Then I jumped across the two big posts on the solenoid. The drive came up. I cleaned all the connections on the solenoid. The drive still wouldn't come up. I replaced the solenoid and the trim has worked fine since.

I will give that a try Thunder, THX for the tip, I walyws got that he selenoid was fine because it was working one way..<br /><br />Although How is the Wiring diagram with only one selenoid? do U have it or knwo where can I see it?

I could scan and email you a copy of the wiring diagram for my boat. It would be different than yours because mine doesn't have the button on the shift lever, only the panel on the dash. The wiring might be the same at the solenoid. I really don't know. I posted it once before and it shrunk it to the point of being too small to read. I know even less about computers than I do about boats.

the solenoid is used for "up" only, the "down " is hard wired

thunder THX. sirexilon is my email<br />i will appreciate you wiring. diagram.<br /><br />Bt Doctur, Thx also, then the Blue cable is going to the Selenoid and the green one connected together witht he Red cable then on the Batery side. of it.<br /><br />Great do U know a place with a manual for that? Blue cable = sky<br />green cable=earth/water<br />blue goes to one side of solenoid, green goes to a plastic junction block that has a green harness wire.blue harness wire goes to the trip circuit on the solenoid.heavy red from solenoid goes to the + battery.red harness wire supplies the power to the trim buttons.

THx Bt Doctur <br />Kinda a complicate way to put it for a firt timer on this like me man. <br />You said "green goes to a plastic junction block that has a green harness wire" I don't have that in my selenoid or anywhere there.<br /><br />Thx man,
