Trim Pump Help

I have an issue with the trim pump on my boat (186 MONTEREY with 3.0l merc alpha II)

It goes down just fine, but if I try raise the transom it just makes a click noise coming from the trim pump. Why will it go down fine but not up?

Since you hear a click when trying to us the up, my guess is the up solenoid is not making contact internally.
To check it out, download the link below and go to page 1C-12 and find your problem, then follow the diagnostics.

it just makes a click noise coming from the trim pump.

Ayuh,... Jumper across the bigger lugs with a stout wire, on the thingy that's clicking...
If the trim motor runs, the solenoid is bad...
If it Don't,.. You may need a new pump...

Ok where can I buy a new solenoid? Are they all the same for mercs?
